Dementia care
Our homes have signed up to the government's dementia pledge and made a number of improvements to our facilities, this includes our dementia friendly gardens. This has allowed residents who are living with dementia to have access to a space that is both beautiful and safe.
The homes can offer a caring environment for residents who have dementia care needs. All residents will be assessed when applying for a long-term placement, in the normal process.
Every resident is an individual, including those with different levels of dementia. It is the home’s aim to maintain a person’s right of choice and quality of life, within each individual’s capability level. Balancing the risks and rights in dementia care is a complex issue and the family members will be encouraged to be involved in the care plan package.
Havering Care Homes Ltd will provide ongoing support and training in dementia care within Abbcross andUpminster Nursing Home to empower staff to promote person centred care and lead within the area for provision of dementia care.
